From Home Office to Owners, Meet The Ericksons

Summary
“City Wide Facility Solutions in Omaha has a goal to be trusted by 10,000 businesses,” Meredith Erickson states. “And we’re going to get there by asking questions of the client like, ‘How can I help?’ and ‘What’s next?’.”
When City Wide Franchise Founder and CEO, Jeff Oddo, reached out to Meredith and Jeff Erickson with the question, “When are you going to do this?” the husband-and-wife couple couldn’t turn him down. Just three hours from Kansas City, the Omaha, Nebraska territory was open and the Ericksons decided it was time to become City Wide franchise owners.
As an employee in Kansas City for eight years, including five years as a City Wide Business Performance Coach, Meredith helped coach new franchisees who have become some of the network’s most successful owners, including Troy Wayman and Mitchell Wayman (Wichita), Steve Carroll (Oklahoma City and Tulsa), Michael Castillo (Inland Empire, CA), and Naila and Alan
Matheson (Central New Jersey).
“I had – and still have – a love for all things City Wide,” she shares. “It was a no-brainer for us. We saw how the smaller market made it easier to get plugged into the community and
we knew that’s what we wanted. Plus, we have a high tolerance for risk and don’t shy away from hard work.”
Jeff, who was from Nebraska and had a restaurant background, had been a business owner since age 22 and was excited to make the leap too.
“City Wide’s processes are tried and true. They’re well laid out. If you are patient and you follow them, you’ll have success,” shares Jeff.
City Wide serving Omaha casts a very wide net, says the couple. Starting out, property management companies became an easy sell for Jeff and Meredith. Whether the client was a single-use medical facility or event venue or shopping center, the Ericksons have always followed the City Wide model: sell the services and use the best contractors to provide the services.
Utilizing the expertise and skills of licensed contractors is the key to success for every City Wide location. “We have anywhere between 60-75 independent contractors we rely on and these men and women are so important to our reputation in the market,” says Jeff. “We meet with our contractors individually and work hard to enhance their lives and their businesses, really leaning in hard on our People First mentality.”
Meredith adds, “What gets me out of bed each day is our core values and mission. I love helping people; it speaks to who I am as a person. Money is fleeting; people are not.”
City Wide Omaha’s success demonstrates tremendous financial performance as well, earning $7 million in 2022 and working towards $20 million by 2028.
“City Wide Facility Solutions in Omaha has a goal to be trusted by 10,000 businesses,” Meredith states. “And we’re going to get there by asking questions of the client like, ‘How can I help?’ and ‘What’s next?’.”
“Demonstrating competency and caring always builds trust with the client,” adds Jeff. “As we look ahead, our goal is to work more on the business rather than in it, and to become the top employer in Omaha through our culture, benefits, philanthropic goals and our overall Ripple Effect.”
Jeff and Meredith’s son, Kyle, and son-in-law, Austin, both work in the business too and together their families enjoy supporting the local Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation in honor of the Ericksons’ grandson who was diagnosed with CF at birth. Recently, City Wide Omaha had over 50 employees participate in the annual Great Strides Walk supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. City Wide Omaha shattered their fundraising goal of $5,000 with $13,500.00 raised for the Foundation.
