City Wide Opens in Central Maryland

There is a new player in town for Central Maryland’s building maintenance industry. The fast-growing City Wide franchise will be opening shop with a new office in the Baltimore area spearheaded by franchisee Tom Grem. After analyzing countless franchise opportunities, Grem decided on City Wide because the overall business model fit him best. “I chose City Wide because the model has worked 29 times previously and I liked the idea that we could be sitting on the same side of the table helping people, rather than going out and just peddling something.  Tapping into two decades of personal experience was also a huge plus,” says Grem.

Looking at his career, one can see that Grem has a successful foundation based in a variety of general management and sales management positions – meaning he will be a great asset to the City Wide brand, along with the other owners. In previous positions, Grem has led efforts to increase sales, built strong teams and has always been focused on the value proposition for his clients.

“We are very excited to welcome Tom Grem as part of the City Wide family,” noted Franchise President Jeff Oddo. “Not only will Tom play a vital role in helping us to expand across the east coast but he brings more than 20 years of high level experience in sales and sales management. He is very well outfitted to hit the ground running.”

According to Grem he and his small, but talented, staff have already hit the ground running and are expecting their City Wide operations and sales support team to be visiting the office within the next few weeks. Grem says the atmosphere around the office is a healthy mix of optimism and excitement.

Success Stories

Having had the opportunity to be part of the City Wide Home Office, selling City Wide for eight years, I would share this view: My advice is simple on how you can be a success owning a City Wide Franchise. First, find a great partner with a work ethic you admire. Keep the message simple and be relentless at sales. Find the spot where you are uncomfortable and be there often. Choose to do the work in sales because it is difficult. This is where you will find both a passion for the business model and an addiction.

Much like the saying, “dreams come true, not free,” City Wide offered me the opportunity to chase a dream to build a business for my family though hard work and perseverance. The fruits of that hard work have not only created a profitable and growing family legacy business but, more importantly, the platform for us to improve the quality of life of our employees’ families as well as to give back in a meaningful way to our middle Tennessee community. The ceiling is high for those who want to chase their dream

What appealed to us about City Wide was the opportunity to work together and build a family business. Personal effort is directly rewarded with results and as you grow you get to share that success with an ever-growing team of direct staff, independent contractors, and happy clients.

I fell in love with the Home Office team. I believed in the concept of the model. I loved the team’s professionalism, enthusiasm, integrity, ethics and, most importantly, family values. When we left [Discovery Day] I was scared we would not be selected. We were so excited when we got the call that we had been. It has been the best decision we have ever made for our family.
