In 1961, a young entrepreneur named Frank Oddo decided to open his own janitorial business in Kansas City. For 40 years he successfully ran a traditional cleaning company with a staff of in-house employees. In 1999, Jeff, Frank's son, took over as President. He transformed the B2B model into a management franchise to take on those commercial cleaning services.
This new franchise business model allowed City Wide to:
  • Grow to more than $165 Million in our most recent fiscal year.
  • Focus on sales and management of cleaning and janitorial services along with client retention.
  • Work with Independent Contractors who were already established service professionals in the local community.
Today, Kansas City is still in operation and serves as a training site for all new franchise programs. City Wide has grown to 55 franchise locations across the country from San Diego, California to Boston, Massachusetts and from Seattle, Washington to Charlotte, North Carolina.

What I love about this business is that I am doing the same thing I was doing in corporate America but now I am building a business for myself. Repeat contracts, no hourly employees, no more travel, in control of my own destiny... somebody pinch me!
